More information about the software

PreviSat is an observation software that tracks satellites. It is very easy to use and displays the positions of artificial satellites both in real-time and manual mode. PreviSat is able to make predictions of their passes, predictions of MetOp and COSMO-SkyMed flares, ISS transits and several other calculations. PreviSat utilizes the SGP4 model which was updated in 2006. This model uses TLE orbital element to calculate the geocentric positions of artificial satellites. PreviSat displays satellites in a global map view or a skymap view. It can calculate all passes of satellites at any place in the world.

PreviSat is characterized by the following:

  • NORAD SGP4 model (Hoots, Roehrich, 1980; Vallado, 2006)
  • Modes: Manual mode / Real time
  • World map / Skymap
  • Visualizations of ISS Live and Wall Command Center
  • Topocentric/Equatorial / Terrestrial coordinates
  • Osculating elements, satellite informations
  • Weather for NASA bases or observer location
  • Intuitive interface (handling TLE selections, selecting location, options for display).
  • Prediction of passes, MetOp and SkyMed flares, ISS transits and orbital events (very fast calculations)

How to Download and Install PreviSat v5.0.2.3
